Oregon Steelhead Forecast 2018
So far the 2017-2018 steelhead season has been off to a good start. The Columbia river has had one of the worst years for steelhead since recording data. Luckily we are talking about steelhead Fishing in the Tillamook area and it’s looking promising!
I have been fishing a lot of days already this season I started just after thanksgiving and each trip has been consistent, with my best day being 12/27. We landed 6 fish today, 4 of which were hatchery fish we could keep. We missed a few opportunities and lost a few. That’s why they call it Fishing not catching.
I have been mostly bobber dogging bait and beads. When the water gets slow I sometimes use borax roe or use beads in a small stealthy presentation. It has been so effective for me that it’s rare you see me with anything but bobbers in my boat when Fishing for steelhead anymore.
With such a productive early season, I sure am looking forward to what will come. I’m sure that many more big fish will keep things interesting.
Many of my days get booked early so if you are interested in a hands on approach to Fishing give me a call and let me teach you how to maximize your time on the water.
